About the Teacher
Ustadha Shamira Chothia Ahmed is passionate about equipping Muslim women with the sacred knowledge they need to worship Allah ﷻ with clarity and confidence. She completed the five-year intensive ‘Alimah program at Ja’mia Al-Imam Muhammad Zakariyya in the UK, continued her Arabic and Qur’anic studies in Damascus, Syria — earning an ijāzah in Tajwīd — and specialized in the detailed rulings of menstruation, lochia, and abnormal discharge under the guidance of Mufti Abdur Rahman Ibn Yusuf Mangera. With nearly two decades of teaching experience across North America, including at Zaytuna Institute, Ustadha Shamira brings both scholarly depth and practical guidance to her students. She has taught hundreds of women how to navigate the fiqh of menstruation with confidence, while always emphasizing the spiritual closeness to Allah ﷻ that comes with practicing this knowledge. As a wife and mother, she understands the daily realities sisters face and infuses her teaching with warmth, clarity, and relevance — making complex rulings accessible and applicable to real life.
